Messages of Encouragement
Host/ Hirofumi Makino, M.D., Ph.D.,President,Okayama University
Okayama University was assigned by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (known as MEXT for short) to conduct the project “Study in Japan Global Network Project in ASEAN” in 2018. We have placed a Study in Japan Coordinator, who is active in promoting study in Japan by international students from Cambodia and Laos and in providing support for human resource development to the both countiries. This year we hold the fair online. This fair provides not only information about the participating institutions but also a large number of videos and materials. These will make it possible to learn about scholarship programs, the experiences of international students in Japan, employment opportunities after studying in Japan, and other matters. In addition, you can attend online consultation meetings held by each of the participating institutions. We hope that all the participants will come to know much more about Japan and will be delighted if the fair helps everyone to feel more familiar with study in Japan. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all the people of both countries who have cooperated wonderfully in the holding of this Online Education Fair and express my wishes for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and both Cambodia and Laos in the future.Co-Hosts/ Prof. Dr. Kunio Kimura, SUN/SixERS (The Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan)
The Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan are the six national universities of Chiba University, Niigata University, Kanazawa University, Okayama University, Nagasaki University, and Kumamoto University; each university is known as one of the top comprehensive universities in Japan. These universities are former national medical colleges or high schools that have contributed significantly to Japan and their regions. The consortium was established in 2013 as a new form of mutual cooperation between universities while respecting each the autonomy and independence of each university. We are very honored to be able to participate as co-hosts of this Study in Japan Fair in Cambodia and Laos, which is being held for the first time this year. While managing the fair together as a consortium of six national universities, each of the six national universities is participating in the fair and we will thus be able to present to you very thorough and satisfactory contents. Moreover, even though we are now feeling the impact of COVID-19, each university is making its own arrangements to ensure that study and research are continuing and that students are not deprived of their opportunity to learn. In addition, all our students, faculty and staff are doing their very best to provide maximum support for international students, both enrolled students and new students traveling to Japan. Although this fair is being held during the coronavirus crisis, we will be delighted if you have a very worthwhile experience at this fair and that it will be a first step toward the realization of dreams for the future of the people of both Cambodia and Laos.Host/ Hirofumi Makino, M.D., Ph.D.,President,Okayama University
